We are delighted to welcome you to the 12th International Adventure Conference, co-hosted by ATRA, Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAS) and Wageningen University & Research, on the BUas campus in the historic city of Breda.
Breda University of Applied Sciences
Breda University of Applied Sciences is a specialist and international higher education and research institute, offering 17 bachelor and 12 master degree programmes across a range of fields (tourism, hospitality, leisure & events, gaming, built environment & logistics, and media). Around 7,000 students from all over the world study on our green, safe, and compact campus, where education and research are closely connected to projects with global industry partners.
As part of our commitment to addressing global challenges, BUas has put forward a Research & Development/ Design (R&D) vision that integrates R&D into every facet of our institute through three domain themes (Places & Flows, Experiences and Digital Realities) and two transversal themes (Artificial Intelligence & Sustainability Transitions). A range of professorships (research groups) are active across the different academies, ensuring that research, education, and practice are closely connected, drive innovation and make a meaningful impact together.
Welcome to our green campus
The BUas campus is also known as a ‘green campus’. It is a place where history, sustainability and innovation meet. One of its highlights is the former convent that now houses the Academies for Hotel and Facilities and Tourism, a space where centuries of heritage provide a unique backdrop for forward-looking teaching and research. This blending of past and future captures the spirit of BUAS, rooted in history and tradition, yet always transforming, future-oriented, and open to new perspectives. Designed with openness, sustainability, and community in mind, the landscaped grounds offer a welcoming and restorative environment. In the middle of the greenery on the campus is the Community Garden, which offers students, staff and local residents a place to garden together and enjoy nature.
As a delegate, you will find many opportunities to pause, connect, and exchange ideas; whether in modern classrooms, leafy courtyards, or peaceful garden corners. We invite you to make yourself at home and let the campus atmosphere inspire you throughout the conference.
