Expressions of interest

The Adventure Tourism Research Association (ATRA) is now seeking proposals from universities or other potential partners to host the 2020 International Adventure Conference.

Principles of ATRA

ATRA comprises a group of academics, independent researchers, adventure professionals and commercial adventure operators whose connectivity defines its working parameters. The aim of ATRA is to create and sustain a forum for the creation and dissemination of research into adventure tourism: its key dimension is the dynamic between theorists and practitioners (academics, managers and guides) which is crucial to keeping the research productivity cutting edge and relevant.
This is being realised under the banner of ATRA through a growing cohort of colleagues, a web-site presence (www.atra.global) and the conference.

The Application Process

Using the format of, and addressing the key issues in, the appended Bid Template and Budget Template documents the potential host should create a document of no more than 10 pages, including appendices.
We welcome ideas about potential themes to explore at the conference, especially if these connect into locally and regionally specific issues pertinent to the host location and which might prove attractive to academics and practitioners alike.
Please submit your initial bid as outlined above by June 1st 2018.
The ATRA steering group will consider the bids and may contact each potential host with an aim to explore specific points for each before a final decision is taken. If numerous attractive and viable proposals are received the steering group will consider allocating conferences for both 2020 and 2021.

The document should be emailed to [email protected]. Steve should also be the first point of contact for questions related to this process.
